Islanders maintain that Block Island is its own country.
Accessible only by air and water, it is the kind of far away
place that we find in dreams. There are three streets in town,
and no traffic lights, and only one intersection worth talking
about. When you walk from the boat, through the town, past the
shops and the restaurants it is as though you have wandered into
some undiscovered country and suddenly realized that you have
known it since before you were born. The ocean is everywhere on
the island. Sand clings to your clothes when you haven’t left
town all day, and the scent of salt and damp roses follows you
from morning till night. It is a magical place, a strange salty
treasure chest—the kind of island where you find the things
you’ve been looking for so long that you’ve forgotten you needed
them at all.
Jennifer DiTraglia Milner grew up on Block Island. When she was
very small, she would make her mother necklaces from the white
shells she found on the beach. Her designs have improved since
then, but Jennifer’s passion for jewelry has remained
unquenched. In 1992 Jennifer opened her first store on Dodge
Street and over the past years she has become the Island’s only
destination for fine jewelry, enhanced by the opening of the
second store in 2006. Her Block Island collection, manufactured
in the state of Rhode Island and designed by Jennifer herself is the most
elegant, organic island themed jewelry you can find. Jennifer’s
sense of jewelry as art lends her pieces a sensuous, fluid
quality that raises them to the level of future heirlooms.
Jennifer’s Jewelry of Block Island offers warm personalized
service in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
